Background
My passion for creativity and design started at a young age. When I was seven years old, I entered a drawing competition at the local pharmacy, where I enthusiastically competed for the first prize: a large teddy bear that I really wanted to win. Winning the first prize sparked my love for drawing and inspired me to further develop my skills. Since then, my interest in the creative world has only grown.
After obtaining my degree in Media Design and my current studies in Communication & Multimedia Design at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, I have gained extensive experience as a media designer at various organizations, including House of Urban Arts and Moos production house. Here I not only refined my technical skills, but also my ability to think creatively and translate my ideas into visual concepts.
I am proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, Procreate, Figma, and Canva, and I use these tools to bring my artistic vision to life. Whether it is graphic design, digital illustration or multimedia project development, I always strive for high-quality and visually appealing results. My ambition is to develop my creativity and skills continuously and to take on new challenges in the world of design.
Creativity is the key!
Creativity is an important part of who I am, and I like to express this in design. I enjoy coming up with and developing concepts, designing logos and creating physical print designs. During my MBO Media Design course, I discovered how much fun it is to bring ideas to life. During my internship, I learned how valuable it is to be open to new perspectives and creative challenges. This ensured that I continued to develop myself and made better and better designs.
One of the moments when my passion really came to light was during my exam project. I designed a cup for Starbucks in the theme of the Rugby World Cup 2023. I worked out various design ideas and fully immersed myself in the creative process. Combining aesthetics, functionality and storytelling gave me so much satisfaction that I realized at that moment: this is what I want to do. This project was a confirmation of my ambition to make design my profession and to inspire others with my work.
I Love a challenge!
I love to challenge myself and raise the bar. As a perfectionist, I have an eye for detail and strive to continuously improve my designs so that they are not only visually appealing, but also perfectly match the assignment. The process of growing and learning is something that motivates me immensely.
A good example of this is my work on an app for an automatic pet feeder. I did some extra research to find out how I could make the app more functional and meaningful than just a tool for feeding pets. This led to the idea of ‘gamifying’ the app and focusing on the well-being of the cat instead of just the user. By taking on this challenge, I not only made the app more interesting, but also more useful for both the pet owner and the animal itself.
